Prompt 4: Fanwork Recommendations
As the
Okay, so basically the highlight of every anime convention I attend is the AMV (Anime Music Video) Contest.
This is just a sampling of all the AMVs I have loved. I haven't even watched all of these shows/movies. With AMVs, it just doesn't matter if you know the source material or not.
Sail On by ManyLemons. Anime: One Piece. I only made it to episode 176 of this show (of 900+), but it's still awesome.
Human by TheAsian777. Anime: A Silent Voice. I read the manga, and I haven't seen the movie yet, but omg, my heart.
High School Never Ends by Melichan923. Source: Ouran High School Host Club. This one is just perfect in its humour. So funny.
Reprieval by Ryuu-Dono. Anime: Mushishi Zoku, Akatsuki no Yona, Sword of Stranger, Attack on Titan and Sengoku Basara. This is one of those ones where they effortlessly mash up a bunch of shows and make it look like one show.
One Match by Tigrin. Anime: Yona of the Dawn. I saw this one at Anime North, and I just remember flailing helplessly. YES.
Calling by NekoKitkat25hug. Anime: Summer Wars. This might be the best AMV I have ever seen. It's just... beyond perfect. Also, the movie is amazing, and I once cosplayed King Kazma.
A View to a Kill by Vlad G Pohnert. Anime: Sailor Moon and City Hunter. Not only is this my favourite Duran Duran song, but it's my favourite Bond theme. And you can bet this is an amazing Bond-opening AMV.
Carnival of Rust by Arathe. Anime: X/1999. I bought X/1999 after watching this. I still haven't watched it, but I bought it!

Date: 2019-07-20 10:37 pm (UTC)The One Piece (Sail On): such a good song, oi. I’ve had someone rec the show to me before, but I’ve yet to give it a try. The video gave me the power up, shounen vibes?
A Silent Voice (Human): WOW. That song and the editing are so powerful, and they really capture the spirt of the film. That’s getting saved to my save list.
Ouran (High School Never Ends) bwhahahaha. That was perfect, even the ending credits.
Various Anime (Reprieval): That was such an eerie mash up. It really does seem to be one show, and the spreading decay combined with the haunting song is just ooooph. So good.
Yona (One Match): I WILL WATCH THIS SERIES SOON YAAAAS. I was excited to get the Crunchyroll invite, but this AMV makes me want to abandon everything I’m working in this weekend to binge watch RIGHT NOW.
Summer Wars (Calling): Wow, another really great choice of song plus editing to capture the mood of the film perfectly. I hadn’t thought of Summer Wars in a long time so that was a nice revisit.
Sailor Moon/City Hunter (A View to Kill): LOL oh that was a fun mash up complete with oldies song.
X/1999 (Carnival of Rust)): I love the song and it definitely seems like an emo show based on these edits, though I’ve never watched and I’m not sure this video alone sold me. It was still a fun watch, though!

Date: 2019-07-20 11:41 pm (UTC)Actually, if I rewatch any of them, it should be Natsume Yuujinchou first because I binged it in a fevered state of delight the first time.

Date: 2019-07-20 11:37 pm (UTC)What I saw of One Piece, I really liked, but then I fell behind... and catching up seems intimidating af. Power up, shounen vibes is basically the theme of the show lol. And yessss, come to the Yona darkside; I wanted to rec another Yona AMV as well, but YouTube blocked it in my country. (weep). And yeah, iirc, X/1999 is by Clamp.
Now I am in the mood for another AMV contest...

Date: 2019-07-21 02:56 am (UTC)I'm looking at the first weekend in August to have my binge watch if all goes well! I'm still trying to remember the other shows I've had on deck aside from Yona. Kenshin got brought up recently and I feel like I need to watch at least a good chunk of that.
