Sep. 18th, 2018 06:50 pmSo the December 2018 Solicitations are out for Marvel. ( I am losing my frigging mind. ) December will be bad for the wallet.
Also bad for the wallet: dropping one of your fridge shelves on the floor while you're attempting to resemble an adult and clean your fridge. So much glass, everywhere, and until Sunday, I did not own a broom. Way to adult, self. (The fridge is clean, mostly because it was full of glass. Every crevice in my kitchen is full of glass and will be for decades). I currently have a replacement on the way from Nova Scotia. I will not sleep till it gets here.

I have read so many books recently, because I put a bunch on hold assuming, you know, they'd be spaced out, instead of a constant stream. I read the first two books in the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. I no longer remember why I started reading them or who recommended them, but they're good? I like them a lot? I have the third book open; it's due back in six days. Wish me luck.
I've also been reading the Sinners on Tour series by Olivia Cunning; I am on the second book, though I'm reading the compilation version. Recommended to me with the warning it had a lot of sex, to which I replied, I honestly doubt it has more than some of the fic I've written (true). It's slow going, because all these library holds keep coming in, but there is zero competition for the eBook version through my library, so I just keep checking it out again. Someday!
And then, finally, the book I put on hold months ago then promptly forgot about: No One Tells You This by Glynnis MacNicol. I read this in two days; I might actually buy it. To say I have complicated feelings about turning 40 is an understatement (it has nothing to do with the number, and I might talk about this someday, but that day is not today). This... helped. I feel marginally better and definitely thoughtful. I also want to go back to Iceland, because that country is amazing.
Books I will eventually read once all my holds are read: I need to re-read the Bedwyn series by Mary Balogh. Like, my soul is yearning for it, and I have to start at the beginning. Have to.
Somewhat related, because technically it's a book: my Marvel Bang is currently being beta read. Neither my beta nor my artist are overly familiar with Rictor and Shatterstar, and this thing is basically 56k of explicit fluff. Which just confirms what I knew already: fandom is awesome. The people in fandom are awesome. I was so worried for my rarepair, and I so didn't need to be.
