Hello, and welcome to my Dreamwidth!
My name is Tangerine (the R is there because I am always three days late to every new platform). I was also once known as Rhys.
You're welcome to subscribe or follow if something interests you (with or without commenting first -- feel free to just add!). I love fandom and people being fannish about things, regardless if we have any fandoms in common. I'm also incredibly susceptible to fannish suggestion, so if someone else is squeeing about something, I typically find myself sucked in and at least learn the basics. I can be found a few other places:
Tangerine,
atangeriner,
tangeriner and tangherin3 on Discord.
A few of my favourite things:

A few of my favourite things:
- EarthMix - my current obsession. Love all their shows, fictional and non. Definitely consider myself part of Nameless fandom. They have 9 cats between them! What a gift!
- Asian BL dramas - I mostly stick to Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan for these, but tbh (and my MyDramaList would confirm this) I basically watch them all. Some particular favs: Blueming (South Korea), Ossan's Love/Ossan's Love Returns (Japan), We Best Love (Taiwan), Theory of Love (Thailand), Roommates of Poongduck 304 (South Korea), Plus&Minus (Taiwan), Love Mechanics (Thailand), Old Fashion Cupcake (Japan).
- Kpop - ATEEZ is my main group, with Yeosang as my bias and Wooyoung as my bias wrecker and Yunho as that guy always lurking in the background (typical Yunho), but I am OT8 through and through. I watch Wanteez obsessively as one does. Other groups I follow but not quite as obsessively: ZEROBASEONE.
- Rictor/Shatterstar - X-Force era, X-Factor era and anything in-between or after. New Mutants: Dead Souls, Shatterstar mini, give me all of it, Marvel.
- X-Men (Comics) - my life's ambition is to basically have a collection of all X-Men-related comics. I'm probably 60% of the way there. My X-Men fic tends to be comicverse, not movieverse, for this exact reason. Angel (and all his variations) is my favourite and has been for 25 years (!).
- Anime and Manga - My Hero Academia, Run with the Wind and Yona of the Dawn are the big ones for me right now, but this list tends to shift (Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, Yowamushi Pedal, Haiykuu!!, Natsume Yuujinchou, Yuri on Ice, etc.), and once I love something, I love it forever (i.e. Samurai Champloo, Inuyasha, Trigun, Gundam Wing, Weiß Kreuz, Naruto). I also read the manga for My Hero Academia and Yona of the Dawn and am mostly caught up. I also have an ongoing love affair with all things From Eroica with Love related.
- Dragon Age, especially Inquisition - I think I am on my seventh play-through.
- The Professionals - I am just getting into this, reading and watching. I at least know which one is which now.
- Hockey - This is a perpetual source of anguish for me, because my team is bad on multiple levels, and embarrasses me on the regular in new and unexpected ways (Senators). I would update this, but hey, still true, though at least they're entertaining now in their chaos (written in 2021, still applicable in 2025 -- why, hockey, why).
- Historical Romance Novels - Mary Balogh gives me life. And Lisa Kleypas. And Laura Kinsale. And KJ Charles.

Date: 2018-05-12 01:47 pm (UTC)I am randomly friending you-- I was clicking on the random journal button and normally it takes me to a lot of RP centered journals, but this time it took me to you-- and while we share a lot of geeky fandoms, I have to say the thing that stuck out was the Evie and Sebastian icon that you have (I love me some epic Historical Romance novels, and I am a Kleypas, Balogh, Jo Beverly and Julia Quinn fan.
So that is compelling me to add you-- I totally hope you don't mind.
I'm Nia BTW!~

Date: 2018-05-12 09:47 pm (UTC)And ahhh, Evie and Sebastian. Lovelovelovelove.
I haven't read much Julia Quinn and Jo Beverly, but Lisa Kleypas and Mary Balogh are, like, the romance writers of my soul. I'm just about to start my annual re-read of the Bedwyn cycle. LOVE. So happy to meet another fan (plus I see what you mean about sharing a lot of geeky fandoms).

Date: 2018-05-12 10:28 pm (UTC)Thank you for the rec. I will add to my to-read pile!
And oooooooh. I have to pick my favourite child, lol. Okay, I can do this. I think Rannulf's book wins, but Wulfric's is a very close second. By the time Wulf's book rolled around, I was SO READY for it, you know? But RANNULF. (My favourite Balogh book of all is Simply Love). What about you?

Date: 2018-05-12 10:35 pm (UTC)Very hard.
I think my favorite Mary Balogh book is The Arrangement from the Survivor's Series-- that holds a special place in my heart, they are very pro-disability, and I like the author's take on the many ways one can come back wounded from the war-- be it physically or emotionally.

Date: 2018-05-13 12:10 am (UTC)And aaah, I love that one, too. Vincent! That was a great series. I thought she handled the subject matter very well, and I was so happy to see every member of the club get their happy ending. I swear, Mary Balogh knows exactly what I want and then gives it to me without me having to ask.
Dear self: you cannot re-read all these books right this second. Even if you want to.

Date: 2022-01-27 07:10 pm (UTC)And HISTORICAL ROMANCE!!! (I'm sorry, I'm so excited about this because!!! is one of the genres I read the most of). I love Mary Balogh (My favs are Slightly Scandalous and Slightly dangerous) and Kleypas (my favs are Secrets of a summer night, Scandal in spring and Suddenly you---> this one I have mixed feelings because there are some things I wish were different but I do enjoy it a lot). Some of my other HR fav authors are: Sherry Thomas, Courtney Milan, Julie Anne Long, Mia Vincy. I also saw The Raven Cycle in your interests! :D

Date: 2022-01-28 08:14 pm (UTC)I'm not sure I've read any of those other authors, but now I am definitely tempted.
All this to say... nice to meet you! 😁

Date: 2022-01-29 12:50 am (UTC)"Slightly Dangerous because the satisfaction of that final book... perfection. Even when I know it's coming. And have read the series multiple times. Haha. " EXACTLY! The satisfiction of seeing Wulf's journey and how he lets himself show his emotions little by little, like asking Freyja to promise to him that she'll be happy, or when he basically said to Morgan that he needed her, like that little show of vulnerability (that he needs them as much as they need him), Alleyne feeling that he finally came back home when he was being hugged by Wulfric? reassured and feeling finally, finally safe and loved? And then you get to his book and is something that's always been there but is shown outwardly and expanded? Freyja saying to Christine "If this is what you've done for him, I'll love you all of my life" Mary Balogh's Bedwyns and Julia Quinn's Bridgertons always make me so emo about family dynamics. Julie Anne Long does this very well, too, in her Pennyroyal Green series.
I adore all the authors I've mentioned, and I hope some of them will give you a new book to love :D (it's so hard sometimes to find new authors that work for you in how they write, develop or what subjects they introduce)
It's really nice to meet you, as well :D

Date: 2022-01-29 03:25 am (UTC)And okay, I think my eyes just welled up a bit here, thinking about Wulfric, for all those moments. Those Bedwyn family feels. Christine is just his perfect match, too. Ahh, why are there so many books between me and those moments right now? 😅

Date: 2022-02-10 05:44 pm (UTC)It's so satisfying to re-read the whole series and have those glimpses of Wulfric and then BAMN you get his book and is everything you've ever wanted and more. I love the ballroom scene with the eyeglass klajdlaskdj.
