Day 8

In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm going to try to post a variety of pairings, and not just Rictor/Shatterstar, though I was tempted (and they make up the majority of what I've written). Also, this turned into six recs, because asking me to make a decision remains a vague, elusive thing.

Spartan - X-Men, Iceman/Angel, E, 5.2k.

This took me 11 years to finish. I'm writing a sequel for [community profile] trope_bingo. Bed sharing (while on the run) leads to Iceman finally admitting what he wants. Hint: it is probably the crazy hot dude with the fluffy wings lying beside him.

Cage - X-Force, Rictor/Shatterstar, E, 15.1k.

I think this is the best story I wrote last year. It's a canon divergent AU. Way back in 1987 (our time), Rictor was kidnapped as a 13-year-old by The Right (an anti-mutant group). This story asks the question: what if he hadn't been kidnapped?

Heartlines - X-Factor, M/Siryn, T, 10.3k.

I listened to a lot of Florence + the Machine writing this. I love Monet and Terry together. I loved having a chance to write them together. I really got to indulge in my love of Grand Gestures and Terry saying the word "nightie" more than once.

The Definition of Stupid - The Dead Zone (TV), Johnny/Walt, M, 4.9k.

I had a really brief, really out-of-character (for me) foray into the Dead Zone in the mid 2000s. I only squeezed three stories out of myself, but I really like all three of them. This one combines snappy dialogue with the locked in trope. It's also been made into a podfic!

Smile - X-Men, Rictor/Shatterstar, M, 9.6k.

Part of the thing I like about Rictor and Shatterstar is it's so often about Rictor and Shatterstar vs. the World. Or, in this case, Ric's family. I really like trying to fill in the blanks about their time in Mexico. This is probably my best attempt to do that.

Catch You Unaware - Samurai Champloo, Mugen/Jin, M, 4k.

This remains my most kudo-ed fic, which always surprises me, but hey, it was fun to write. I love writing antagonistic relationships, where the more stoic one is deeply annoyed by the personality/humour/existence/all of the above of the other one.

I was all about the OT3 on the first viewing and then somehow my brain flipped and I was all about Johnny/Bruce on re-watching. (Once you've got it into your head that they're a married couple, they're totally an old married couple.)

Yup. I've written two Johnny/Bruce fics (and a third Johnny & Bruce where you can imagine a relationship or not), a gen story where Johnny is the third wheel on Walt & Sarah's vacation, and a free-for-all where it's implied that everyone has sex with everyone (but I was too lazy to write that part... group sex sounds like a pretty idea but I don't know how to wrangle that many body parts in a story) and I still waffle between Johnny/Bruce and Johnny/Walt and Johnny/Walt/Sarah because whichever I'm writing at the time feels like the best one. It's all plausible.
