Snowflake Challenge: Day Seven

A passion: I'm way into art, and I consider myself an artist even if I haven't dabbled in more traditional media for a decade at least (and have chosen to direct my creative energies elsewhere, mostly into writing and cosplay). The first thing I do when visiting a new city (if time allows) is head to the nearest art gallery. I've been in exactly one professional art exhibition, at a local gallery years ago, and I'm still super proud I was accepted. My favourite artists include Auguste Rodin, Raphael, Alex Colville, Aubrey Beardsley and Alphonse Mucha, and I tend to squee thoroughly whenever I discover a piece during my travels by any one of them.

Date: 2013-01-08 12:54 pm (UTC)For cosplay, I tend to start by doing two things: 1. pick the costume I want to make (that's within my skill level) and 2. find a pattern that kind of resembles the basic shape I'm looking for. #1 is easy enough, but #2 takes a bit -- I use a lot of Simplicity halloween costumes because they have good bones (and are easy to follow). Cosplay.com is also an awesome resource for how-tos -- their forums are super active. Let me know if you have any questions about cosplay!
It was super cool! It was awesome to see something I'd done on someone else's wall (and interesting to see where they chose to display me), with strangers looking at at.
