Aug. 18th, 2012 11:14 pmYup, definitely not good at updating this thing. Oh well. Let's just consider it a character flaw.
I finally posted my head-canon story This Human Life (Part 1 and Part 2), which is the first and last attempt I'll ever make at trying to explain Shatterstar's history. For two reasons: 1) it still pisses me off to consider that's what they came up with, a zillion years later and 2) pretty sure PAD is just gonna retcon most of Shatterstar's past (no blame here).
Also, it took me two hours to post that story, and not for obvious reasons. I accidentally deleted part 2 the first time, after getting it all prettied up. I originally tried to make it chapters, but yeeeeesh, really ruined what I was going for (two complete stories, one about how Star learned the live and the other about how Star learned to die). So then it was a series, which was fine, more or less, but then I got tripped up on the metadata. I turn into a total librarian when it comes to metadata.
You see, they let you add keywords. And you think, well, yes, that applies, and so does that, and that, and that. And I keep having to put major character death, because it sorta applies, but there's no major character death (sorta) tag. Because, tbh, I am a suck and even in my angsty teen years (see my very first series, Release, if you can find it) I did the major character death (sorta) thing, where nobody really dies. I try to limit myself to 10 keywords, but every story could have 100. Metadata!
Utterly unrelated, I finally organised my comics for filing, and discovered, to my dismay, THERE WERE GAPS. Which would be fine, except unless someone robbed me (and only took specific issues), there should be no gaps. I have a subscription. And so began the mad hunt for wayward comics. My apartment is only 600 square feet, and yet it took an hour to locate them, still in the bags I bought them in, hidden under a stack of random papers. I haven't even confirmed they fill the gaps. I'm running out of "logical" hiding places (i.e. places I put things because, hey, who could ever forget they're there) to check.
That's all. My fannish levels are disappointing right now. :(
