I updated my about me sticky, though tbh, because I am such a creature of habit and basically love things forever, nothing really changed. My preferred hockey team is marginally better at least!

I just mainlined the Fullmetal Alchemist anime (the one that matches the manga better) at the behest of my 12-year-old. It was SO GOOD and I may have to watch it again, but the problem is I can't really knit or crochet while it's on -- it's too interesting and I need to read the subtitles!

Yesssss. Brotherhood is amazing! Excellent choice! And haha -- I know what you mean. I love watching anime, but it also means I have to sit there and concentrate and not do anything else and I'm not really good at that. Thankfully, it's usually worth it!

X-men comics??? WHY YES HELLO :D

I just read vol 1 of Iceman yesterday and cried so many tears. My boyfriend also bought me the collected House of X, which I haven't touched yet, but can't wait to jump in! Also I 100% support you goal to collect all X-Men comics :D so good! X-Men has always been my favorite comics wise and I'm just thrilled to have stumbled upon someone else who loves 'em.

Oooo and Witcher stuff! I'm almost done with the Netflix series and have yet to play the third game, but I love it so much. Geralt truly is the best! Need to dive into the books at some point.

Bobby. ♥ I was so happy for him that he got his own series. House of X -- I have had so many plot bunnies spawn from that. I hope you enjoy it! It's really interesting, and I can't stop thinking about it. And thanks! It's slow going, but the collection definitely keeps growing. The X-Men are just so wonderful.

The third game can be a total meander, which is completely my thing. Just Geralt and Roach, roaming around, taking on contracts and getting into trouble. The best. My favourite bits of the show were basically that lol.

I love reading the posts of people I'm friends with because once we've been friends for a while it's like you've just been there and it's nice to be reminded of what your interests are.

So, after re-reading your post and the comments here I'm considering giving the show a try. I had a bad experience with the single book I read because it was short stories and I was confused AF. It made me sad because I really wanted to try the show. And you all are making it sound so good!

Same! I also basically use my friends for suggestions on what to try next, so I always appreciate things like this. :)

I think the show stands on its own. The timeline was a little confusing to me, because it took me a while (... six of eight episodes, haha) to realize what they were doing with it. But the show is very accessible!

I'm so glad everyone's doing Snowflake so we can all reconnect a little. I know on my end that I fell off DDW for a bit toward the end of the year. Obviously, the Witcher show is exploding all over the internet, so as a person who's never read/played any before, I'm always curious to get fans thoughts on the new show. I haven't watched any yet, but I think I'll be starting it once I finish working through Dragula.

I definitely fell off a bit too, and it seems like something that happens to me every year, so it's part of the reason I love the Snowflake Challenge so much. A chance to reconnect and get into the habit of posting again. Win/win!

With the Witcher, I read fic first, despite a friend recommending the games to me many years ago (I have 1 and 2 on PC, but I didn't like the keyboard controls). And then I started playing Witcher 3, and then, finally, the show. It basically combines two of my absolute favourite fic things (stoic main character and bathing scenes), so I was helpless to resist it. The casting is pretty spot-on, and the music is great!

My sincerest sympathies! The Wings have had the Sens number for year, so when the Sens started winning against them, I knew something was going horribly wrong. The Sens have, thankfully, moved from Unwatchably Painfully Bad to Exciting but Still Pretty Bad. It's an improvement! I hope the Wings get there sooner than later!

They will, it's the downswing from the good couple of decades they had, so they seem to be hitting the bottom that is what happens when you're developing your talent, and so by 2030 our so, they'll probably have climbed back into being a midlist hockey team.

I might need to come squee at you once I get through House of X! And the next volumes of Iceman that I insta-bought after finishing vol 1 :D legit, finding another comic fan, especially X-men, just made my day!

Ooooo I am a sucker for a good meander! Assassin's Creed: Odyssey has been my game for that for some time. Just love doing everything except the actual story :D really great after a long, stressful day and I want to unwind by being a fictional badass. Now I can't wait to tackle Witcher 3!

The D&D campaign I DM each week is a three person party that consists of an annoying bard and two stoic swordsmen, so this dynamic definitely appeals to me hahaha.

Please do! I read and collect all of the X-Men titles, and I'm always happy to squee about them. Bobby, in particular, is a favourite of mine, so enjoy that second volume!

The one good thing about meandering is by the time the ending rolls around (and I've forced myself to actually, you know, complete the main story), I'm usually so overpowered it's a breeze. I haven't actually played an AC game before, so I'm intrigued to hear Odyssey is like that!

I remember reading somewhere that after the success of Witcher 3, a lot of RPGs took notes from it. I've only really played Black Flag and Odyssey, but my hardcore AC friends have told me the series' mechanics improved a lot once Origins and Odyssey rolled out and that they're quite similar to Witcher 3 now! Plenty of exploring, taking random quests, and doing whatever you want while ignoring the story. For me with Odyssey, I love sailing on my ship and fighting random bandits at sea, exploring the lovely scenery (especially on horseback), and taking random assassination quests. I like being sneaky in my playthrough, but I have friends who just throw that out the window and dive in for a brawl :D it's very flexible in terms of how you want to play, from combat style to quests and mission to partake in.

Also you can be either a badass dude or a badass lady, both of which can smooch dudes and ladies throughout the game ;D

Your description of Odyssey has me all :O in delight. A ship! Sea bandits! Horseback exploring! I'm def more of a brawler than a sneaker in games, so I'm excited that approach would work as well! And of course, the myriad of genders and smooching options. That might be my only complaint with Witcher 3: I wish there was more variety in the people Geralt can, ahem, kiss.
