What Do We Do When the War is Over? (6879 words) by arysteia
X-Factor, Rictor/Shatterstar, Mature.
Home is where the heart is.
~ there are so many lovely character moments in this one. and time travel! and such snappy dialogue! and so much emotion. like, seriously, the depth of feeling here is incredible. It just captures Ric and Star perfectly.
Exile (82964 words) by PR Zed
The Professionals, Bodie/Doyle, Mature. Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence.
Infiltration of the IRA is never going to be the easiest of undercover assignments. When it also involves winning the confidence of Republican family members who have nothing but hatred and contempt for their ex-Army, ex- CI5, cousin, Bodie finds himself tackling one of the most dangerous missions of his career, leaving Doyle alone and hurt in London, and wondering if he'll ever see his partner again.
~ I read a lot of fic in my first blush of Professionals fandom, but this is one of the ones that a) stuck with me and b) I don't get mixed up with the other 89 stories I downloaded onto my e-reader. Long and plotty and great.
Hang the Fool (231922 words) by AlmaMeDuele
Overwatch, Hanzo/McCree, Mature. Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence.
How the heroic organization Overwatch acquires the talents of one Hanzo Shimada, and how gunslinger Jesse McCree will probably suffer because of it for the rest of his days.
~ all I knew about Overwatch before reading this was a) Hanzo/McCree fanart is all quite lovely and b) I got crazy nauseous watching other people play the game so it probably wasn't for me. But none of the mattered because this story is awesome.
