Mar. 26th, 2018 10:35 pmMy hockey team is on its fifth 5+ game losing streak of the season. That is ... spectacularly bad. I have two more games to attend, and then my tenure as a season ticket holder comes to an end. I won't come back until the ownership changes. I am stubborn like a stubborn thing when I need to be.
I watched Dream Boat (documentary) last night on Netflix, which means I have been entertaining bunnies involving Rictor, Shatterstar and a cruise ship all day (this in addition to still having Arcadia on the brain). I am pretty sure I can't write a plot that consists entirely of Shatterstar Wears a Ridiculously Tiny Bathing Suit and Rictor Wonders How This Is His Life Now ... but admittedly, I am pretty sure I have started stories with even less, so ... maybe.
I have been listening to the back catalogue of the podcast Fansplaining, having recently discovered the pod. I love fannish meta about fandom itself, but I hate myself every time I can't resist a comments section, so this is actually suiting me quite well. If anyone knows of any other fannish podcasts, please let me know.
And finally, my third square on my bingo card, with Bets/Wagers becoming my Free Space:
Instructions For A Bad Day (4185 words) by Tangerine
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: X-Force (Comics), X-Men (Comicverse), Marvel (Comics)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Julio Richter/Shatterstar
Additional Tags: Mexico, Bets & Wagers, Alcohol, Bodily Fluids
Summary: Rictor and Shatterstar's very bad day.
This is a little exciting, because I have never made it far enough in a bingo card that the free space became an option.
On the plate for April: finish smutswap story (currently at 1600 words), start and hopefully finish Fork in the Road (long) and Gender Swap (short) squares, and brain plot and start whatever my assignment for fandom5k is.

Not exactly a podcast
Date: 2018-03-27 10:24 pm (UTC)I have found them very interesting as while they explain concepts of fandom, terms used, and even various pairings they tell you a lot about where these things came from and fandom history in general. Also they work hard to give both sides of any topic without bashing anyone. Over time they have changed the format a little and are now usually posting content about twice a week, some only being 4 or 5 minutes to some being close to 20 minutes.
Again not a podcast, but very fandom centric. And she takes suggestions for topics in her comments so the viewers help determine the content. Main page at

Date: 2018-03-28 03:37 am (UTC)And thank you, I don't thing anyone has ever commented on Duo. I'm sure most don't even know who he is.
Re: Not exactly a podcast
Date: 2018-03-28 09:26 pm (UTC)And you're welcome! GW was one of my first slash fandoms (along with Weiss Kreuz and Gatchaman), and my pairings of choice have always involved Duo (started off really into 1x2, eventually went bananas for 2x5). He's just great.
PS. Do you mind if I add you on DW? We seem to have some interests/fandoms in common AND I've started watching Pros too, mostly in response to all the vids at Escapade this year (plus an amazing fic I accidentally found myself reading, despite not knowing which one was Doyle and which one was Bodie :)).

Date: 2018-03-29 01:48 am (UTC)Please add me on DW (I hope I can add you as well). I have enjoyed reading many of your posts because I don't often see people who deal much with manga or comics in the slash communities I'm a part of.
Also I would love to hear your thoughts on Pros as someone who is also new to it. I have been interested for some time in this fandom because they have done some vary nice vids over the years, but only recently managed to get a hold of the series.
Re: Not exactly a podcast
Date: 2018-03-29 02:23 am (UTC)And yes, of course, please add me! I know what you mean about manga and comics!
So far I found myself nodding a lot to your posts -- I've only watched two or three episodes. I started with Old Dog with New Tricks, and am basically just following the YouTube list now (with what I think might be Spanish subtitles). I don't feel like I can binge watch it, if that makes sense -- it's just very different from things I have watched before. But I do like it, and I'm going to continue watching (and reading all the awesome fic!).
