Mar. 11th, 2018 08:27 pmMy new approach to writing, which seems to be working out, is to just think about a story intensely for a few weeks, then just bang the majority out over the course of a weekend. My only goal this weekend (other than laundry and dishes, also done) was to finish this square for
trope_bingo. It originally started out as Fork in the Road, but is definitely Hurt/Comfort instead. Which means Fork in the Road, Gender Swap and Wildcard would make a line.
Had a weird moment in the H/C story, which I feel like I need to get off my chest. It's a serious story, probably the most serious thing I've written since The Wednesday Thing, and this one scene ... I just started bawling, out of the blue. I sometimes get misty when I write, but this was huge blobby tears, full body weeping crying. Six tissues later, I had a scene written, and it turned out exactly like I wanted.
Smutswap assignment is awesome. V v pleased. My brain will be happy to think intensely about it.
I started watching Shadowhunters, because I am easily swayed by well-edited vids. Ehhhhh ... it is not great. I'm pretty sure the casting call must have been "must look pretty, acting skills nice to have, not required" but otoh, I am still watching it. My only major quibble is it is jarringly Toronto while pretending to be NYC. Like, I have seen shows set in Toronto that are less Toronto than this. I am pretty sure I could give a walking tour, and I haven't lived there in a decade.
I started playing Sims 4. What have I done. The game is basically my fandom interests, brought to life, so I have all my OTPs together (Rictor/Shatterstar, Klaus/Dorian, Angel/Psylocke, Evie/Sebastian, Vontae Mack/Ray Jennings, Yona/Hak), an OT3 (Fuu/Jin/Mugen), an OT4 (Jae-Ha/Kija/Shin-Ah/Zeno) and a house of women who I ship together in various pairs (Jubilee/M/Husk/Siryn).
Episode 3.10 of The Path has destroyed me emotionally. I wish I knew someone else who watched it because feelings!
And unrelated to fandom, I signed up for a stained glass class a few weeks ago that starts on Tuesday. I have no idea why, except a former co-worker and friend asked if I was interested, and I said sure why not. I'm all about learning new skills, but still. We'll see how this goes.
