Feb. 10th, 2018 03:57 pmMy winter boots split at the seam on one foot. Curses! I almost made it through without having to get new ones. Of course, this late in the season, anyone with giant feet (me) means online ordering is the only option. Until then a Canadian tradition: baggies on my feet to keep them dry.
Writing is a skill I know I have, and yet, nothing. Sigh. Maybe I should just try a different square on my bingo card, but I really hate moving between stories. More dramatic sighing.
Lewis Tan is probably Shatterstar in the new Deadpool movie? The amount of speculation a second-long, fuzzy background clip has led to in my Teeny Tiny Fandom is excellent. A+++
I leave for Escapade in less than two weeks. That snuck up quickly. It will be good to spend a weekend with like-minded fannish peeps, even if I only know one of them. I have no idea what to expect, but I love conventions, so I'm sure it'll all be fine.
I almost woke up at 6 am to watch the opening ceremonies for the Olympics, but when the alarm went off, I decided no effing way and slept through them. Since then, I have managed to squeeze in some ski jumping (love how hard the guy who won gold cried), some curling mixed doubles (I find the different rules very intriguing, and I am pleased with how well Lawes and Morris have done so far -- into the semis they go!) and some 3000 m speed skating (because why not).
That is basically my afternoon so far. Watching Olympics while getting caught up on comics as well as bagging and boarding all my new ones. The Phoenix Resurrection limited series actually turned out to be pretty decent. I was mostly reading for glimpses of Shatterstar, but the story was good, the mix of artists was nice, Rictor showed up in one panel, and I recognized most of the dead mutants, so I guess I remember more than I thought. But damn, Marvel, I still barely have any idea what is going on. A four year gap should not be this difficult to overcome.
