See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

yuletide, despite the fact I don't shut up about Yuletide. I really loved this! Sebastian is one of the most compelling characters I've ever come across, in anything, ever, and this is just so perfectly him. Long live the rakes!

Read the whole series, but I wanted to talk about this story because it changed everything for me. I had recognised Rictor and Shatterstar's relationship was different, but hadn't quite been able to articulate why. And then this story, and then BUT OF COURSE. And then my longest fannish experience ever. I even left the fandom then came back, and I re-read this story all the time, because BUT OF COURSE!

I am a giant romantic, WITH THIS ONE NOTABLE EXCEPTION. There is no happy ending here for these two, and I don't need there to be. This one vid started me down my Daken path, which taught me that I can like the "bad" guys, because they can often be very interesting.

Ugghhhhh, DC, why did you ruin this??? I tried to stick it out with the new Stormwatch, and just ... couldn't. So I watch this vid often, with an ache in my chest, because the Midnighter and Apollo are so very important to me, and I pretend everything recent just doesn't exist.
