Oct. 4th, 2012 08:37 pmWoot, Yuletide nominations are open for viewing. And right now, they're sorted by fandom type, which is the best type of sorting! So many comics nominations this year! Dark Avengers was nominated by someone else, so my bitter regrets at not nomming it have been eased slightly. And Rictor and Shatterstar made it into X-Force and X-Factor fandoms which, I agree, are quite different, and come with different demands and pay offs.
The X-Force fandom nom is actually pretty interesting, thanks to Marvel's habit of re-using titles. It has Sunspot, Rictor, Shatterstar and Cable, yes, but it also has Domino, Psylocke, Nightcrawler, Fantomex and Deadpool. Which sets up the potential for, like, Fantomex/Shatterstar, who I don't think have ever actually met in canon, but maybe, one day, they met in Madripoor and fucked each other's brains out. Or something. (For those who don't know, the two X-Force titles are entirely unrelated, except for their propensity for violence).
Some gaming babble:
A friend got me addicted to the PC/Steam version of Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers. I have some pretty good decks built, but I cannot beat the $%^#$ hydras. Screw you, hydras.
A different friend thoroughly kicked my ass in a game of Summoner Wars (another card game) for the fourth straight time. Which is a bizarre reversal of things, as he has almost never won against me, but I think he's purposely exploiting the fact I will pick elves to play 100% of the time, and the elves are weaksauce in this game. But elves.
Elves.
