Time for a real update!

I realize fanworks was a month ago, but I would like to state for the records it was amazing, and I had a great time! The hotel was fabulous (hot tub!), and the programming was excellent. I think I am finally loosening up enough to actually speak to other people?

The only low point of the whole weekend was when I (temporarily) lost my passport during the trip home. Mercifully, it was found and returned to me before the plan took off, and even more mercifully, I lost it on the layover in Toronto, which meant I was at least back in my own country. I was my typical stoic self until the very kind flight attendant was all, "missing something?" And then I did that thing where big globby tears silently rolled down my cheeks.

So, yes, heads up to everyone: do not do that. Very stressful. Do not recommend.

But I def recommend fanworks! It was a blast!

Marvel Trumps Hate is running again this year. I have already signed up with two offers: one ricstar, one Warren/Bobby. It was a good experience last year.

yuletide is gearing up again! I have a notepad file open on my desktop, in an attempt to remember everything I want to nominate. This years noms are excessivly tiny.

Instead of doing anything fun last night, I watched my (terrible) hockey teams lose to my second most hated nemesis team while I scrubbed my refrigerator from top to bottom. There is a smell. I do not like it. I am attempting to exorcise it. I'm hoping the deep clean helped. We shall see.

Last year, when I deep-cleaned the fridge at roughly the same point in the year, I dropped a very expensive glass shelf and broke it in spectacular fashion. This year, I am happy to report, I did not drop anything, and the fridge and I both made it through in one piece.

Finally, I bought my plane ticket for escapade_con because it was the cheapest I had ever seen it. The usual five am departure, but I go through Montreal both ways. I also splurged and got covered parking for my car, because I did not want to get stuck in the snow at three am like last year trying to park outdoors. Winter is coming. I am not mentally prepared.

So relieved! Still! Thankfully, I had my driver's license, and could get on the plane home, but oh, that was going to be a very expensive lesson. ^^;;;

glad you enjoyed the con, an that ayou've got a great deal on airfare to Escapade. I really wish I could attend that con again, but my employers' leave policies haven't allowed that for a long while. :(

congrats on cleaning the fridge without breaking anything this time! I should clean mine, and now I'm getting a bit apprehensive that I'll break a glass shelf. thanks for that

Glad to hear that you had such a good time at the convention and that you made it home in one piece despite the passport scare.

Its also good to hear about you getting your tickets for the flight to Escapade. My tickets were also cheaper then I have seen them in years, maybe it's a thing? See you at the convention.

Thanks, Dine! I hope you can attend again someday, and we can finally meet after, like, almost two decades (popslash does not feel that long ago haha).

And thanks again! It's early so far, but I think the smell might finally be dying down a little. The freezer just smelled overwhelmingly of broccoli. Fingers crossed for you it goes well! (Fridge cleaning is the worst).

Thanks! I'm sooo tempted to get one of those things that, like, strap the passport to you. Or glue it to my hand.

I am deeply suspicious of these low prices, but I'll take them. Made splurging for the fancy parking a no-brainer. I know the con is still, like, five months away, but excitement! See you there!

Oh yeah Escapade! *checks sites* Hey, those are good prices. Lousy times, but whatcha gonna do? Get up early, is what.

Also glad you splurged for covered parking, because that sounded like a nightmare.

Phew. Me too.

Terrrrrible times. The trip back is reasonable, with an 8:30 am departure, but that trip there with the 5:20 am departure? At least I get in before noon. (weeeep).

Watch it not even snow at all in February. Oh well, closer walk anyway.
