Snowflake Challenge: Day One

Day 1

In your own space, talk about your Happy Place—the things that give you joy, calms you or keeps you sane. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I indulge in a lot of happy places-- mostly because I know what I like and what works and I am a create of habit. Things I turn to when I need a Happy Place:

• A book I love... this is usually A Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas, but I have a few on standby. I can read them fast and/or skip to the parts I love the most.
• A movie I love... my top three bring-me-happiness-movies are The Last Unicorn, Draft Day and Role Models, for random reasons that only make sense to me. Sometimes I only watch a scene or two.
• A fic I love... I have a few I return to over and over again, because I love them so much. Currently, it's Arcadia by Sineala.
• Saturday afternoon movies... I go to a lot of movies, normally Saturday around noon, when it's quietest.
• Extravagant baths... I love fruity and/or spicy scents, and I love to soak until the water goes cold. My kobo is waterproof, so when I inevitably drop the fic I am reading in the water, everything is a-okay!

There's something kind of magic about a near-empty theatre. I haven't been to one in a while, but I should; thanks for the reminder. :)

BATHS! Agree, I started doing them when I did my second placement for social work -- a stressful role, and I fell in love with them! I've never felt brave enough to bring my kindle in, though....

I'm envious of all you people who list baths! The only bathtub in my house is in my kids' bathroom, and it's not really a place that would decrease my stress and make me relax. "Who missed the toilet again?" is my usual sort of thoughts.

It's so wonderful! And now that my favourite theatre has recliner chairs... ::happy::.

BATHS! I'd learned my lesson with paper books, and specifically got a waterproof e-reader, even though it was a little pricier. Makes wonderful relaxing baths even better!

Saturday matinees are the best! That's usually when I see movies too.

I feel like they're also a well kept secret? It's weird. I've gone on Sundays, at the same times, and so busy! Def the best!
