In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favourite interview, a book) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm going to get REALLY specific here, because I was hoping this would come up. My favourite comic EVER is Uncanny X-Men #297, for two reasons: 1) it's the first comic I ever bought and 2) IT IS SO GOOD. There's three stories in here: Professor X and Jubilee go roller bladding, Rogue and Gambit be sad together because Rogue is temporarily blind and Warren and Hank BOND LIKE BROS while posing as handymen.

N.B. This issue is the number one reason I think mullets are legitimately hairstyles, and not a day has passed since (it came out February 1993) that I haven't mourned Warren's beautiful hairstyle.

Looking back, I never stood a chance. Angel had to be my favourite character after this issue, because it hit every button pre-teen me had. Including, evidently, mullets and renovation (for the record, I am addicted to all those renovation show on HGTV). And it continues to hit every button adult me has. In fact, this year is the 20th anniversary of this life-changing issue! I must read it every day next month, and marry it.

The cover. Don't worry. It's just Professor X. He's temporarily got his ability to walk back, thanks to the events of the X-cutioner's Song.

That last panel -- the grin and the mullet, I stood no chance.

The minute Hank starts laughing (the letterer deserves mad props here), I start laughing, and then when I see the look on Warren's face, well, I'm toast. They're such great friends!

However over-done Rogue/Gambit would become later, this page hits me in the feels pretty hard.

I often find this issue in the bargain bins at conventions (and um haha I totally buy it whenever I find it so I can read it right that second), so it's really easy to find. It should be worth a million dollars, so obviously, getting it for fifty cents or a dollar is a steal, imho. This era of Uncanny X-Men is brilliant all over, to be honest, and highly recommended.

I've heard so much about old school comics. They really do seem like a fun ride.
